Statement by the Press Secretary on the Visit of Prime Minister Erdogan of Turkey

President Obama will welcome Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey to the White House on Monday, December 7. Turkey and the United States enjoy a strategic partnership and historic friendship. Turkey, a NATO ally, is an important partner in addressing shared challenges. The President looks forward to consulting with Prime Minister Erdogan on a broad range of strategic issues of mutual concern, including implementing our shared strategy for Afghanistan and Pakistan, advancing economic and security cooperation with Iraq, advancing non-proliferation goals, promoting a settlement of the Cyprus problem, normalization of relations with Armenia, Middle East peace efforts, and human rights.
