Apply for the White House Open Data Day Hackathon

We're inviting a small group to join us in Washington, DC on February 22, 2013 for the White House Open Data Day Hackathon. In the weeks before the event we'll give participants access to We the People's Read API methods so they can use them, ask questions, provide feedback, and build cool stuff. For the hackathon, participants will come to the White House to share their work, talk with the API developers, and submit examples to be included in a software development kit (SDK).

Want to take part? If you have the skills necessary to work with APIs and develop visualizations, tools, or other services that rely their data, we want to hear from you. Fill out the form to the right; if you are selected to attend, you will be notified no later than Friday, February 8, 2013.

How do I apply?
Fill out the form to the right to submit your application. The application period opens at 11:00pm E.T. on Tuesday, February 5th and closes on Wednesday, February 6th at 5:00 p.m. ET. Invitations are non-transferable and we can not accommodate additional participants.

What are the application requirements?
Participants must have the skills necessary to work with APIs and develop visualizations, tools, or other services that rely their data. Applying indicates your intent to travel to the White House in Washington, DC on Friday, February 22, 2013 to attend the White House Open Data Day Hackathon. You will bear any costs associated with travel and lodging. All guests will be required to present a valid, government-issued photo identification (detailed here).

What if I cannot come to Washington, DC?
If you cannot come to the White House in Washington, DC to attend in person, you should not apply to take part in this event. Check back on WhiteHouse.gov and follow @WHWeb on Twitter for updates on upcoming opportunities.

When will I know if I am selected to attend?
The White House will contact applicants via email with additional instructions for those that have been invited or added to the waitlist. If you have been selected to attend, you will be notified no later than Friday, February 8, 2013.
