Welcome to the Council on Women and Girls Weekly Highlights! This week, President Obama and leaders from both the Democratic and Republican parties in Congress found common ground on an agreement about the United States budget. The President also laid out his plan for a balanced approach to deficit reduction, and highlighted how promoting equal pay for men and women will help strengthen our economic future. Meanwhile, First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden launched Joining Forces, a national initiative to support and honor America’s service members and their families.
