What's Happening

In the morning, the President and the Vice President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. The President will then receive the Economic Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. Later, the President will meet with the Vice President in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press. Later in the morning, the President will deliver remarks and sign the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act at the Ronald Reagan Building. The Vice President will also attend this event. The President’s remarks are pooled for TV and open to pre-credentialed correspondents, however the deadline to request credentials has passed. In the afternoon, the President and the Vice President will have lunch with House Members in the Roosevelt Room. This lunch is closed press. Later, the President will meet with senior advisors in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press. Later in the afternoon, the President will receive a briefing on the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Situation Room. This meeting is closed press.

In the morning, the President will deliver a statement to the press about the economy in the Rose Garden. The President’s remarks are open press.

Later in the morning, the President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing and the Economic Daily Briefing in the Oval Office.  Later, the President will meet with senior advisors in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.

In the afternoon, the President will welcome the WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury to the White House to honor the team’s 2009 championship season.  In conjunction with this event, members of the team will participate in a service project with local area youth during their visit to Washington, D.C.  This continues a tradition begun by President Obama of sports champions serving in the community as part of their visit.  This event in the State Dining Room is open press.

Later in the afternoon, the President will meet with Senator Glenn in the Oval Office to discuss the President's plan for an ambitious and achievable space program. This meeting is closed press.

In the evening, the President and First Lady will host a White House Music Series event in the East Room saluting Broadway to continue the White House music series celebrating the arts and demonstrating the importance of arts education by featuring Broadway music. The President’s remarks are pooled press.
 

In the morning, the President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing and meet with senior advisors in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.

The President will then travel to Holland, Michigan and deliver remarks at the groundbreaking of the new Compact Power plant. The plant is the ninth of nine new advanced battery factories to start construction as a result of the $2.4 billion in Recovery Act advanced battery and electric vehicle awards the President announced last August.  By the day of groundbreaking, Compact Power estimates it will employ 70 in construction jobs.  This will rise to 200 by September and 300 at the peak of construction.  The factory will hire more than 300 full-time Michigan workers when at scale. The President will discuss how these kinds of investments not only create private sector jobs now, but help American workers and businesses become more competitive.  The President’s remarks are open press.

In the evening, the President will discuss the National HIV/AIDS Strategy during remarks at a pooled-press reception to honor the work of the HIV/AIDS Community. The National HIV/AIDS Strategy is committed to making the United States a place where new HIV infections are rare, and when they do occur, every person, regardless of age, gender, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, or socio-economic circumstance will have unfettered access to high-quality, life-extending care, free from stigma and discrimination. To make this vision a reality, the Obama Administration is launching a comprehensive plan for fighting HIV in our country.
