What's Happening

In the morning, the President will depart Naypyitaw, Burma en route Rangoon, Burma. The departure from Naypyitaw International Airport and arrival at Yangon International Airport are open press.

Later in the morning, the President will tour the Secretariat Building. There will be travel pool coverage of this tour.

Afterward, the President will meet with Aung San Suu Kyi at her residence, and the President and Aung San Suu Kyi will hold a press conference. The meeting is closed press, and the press conference is open to pre-credentialed media.

In the afternoon, the President will meet with employees and family members of the U.S. Embassy to Burma and hold a civil society roundtable. This meeting with embassy employees and family members is closed press, and there will be a travel pool spray at the bottom of the roundtable.

Afterward, the President will meet with Peace Corps Director Carrie Hessler-Radelet and Regional Director Keri Lowry to honor the opening of a Peace Corps program in Burma. This meeting is closed press.

Later in the afternoon, the President will participate in a Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative town hall. This town hall at Diamond Jubilee Hall is open press.

In the evening, the President will depart Rangoon en route Brisbane, Australia. The departure from Yangon International Airport and arrival at Royal Australian Air Force Base Amberley are open press.

The President will remain overnight on Air Force One and arrive in Brisbane early Saturday morning.

In Brisbane, the President will participate in a G20 leaders retreat and lunch. Both events at the Parliament House are closed press.

Following these meetings, the President will travel to the University of Queensland to deliver remarks and discuss U.S. leadership in Asia, especially on economic issues. The speech will provide an opportunity to reaffirm America’s commitment to the Asia Pacific rebalance and outline Asia policy priorities for the remainder of the President’s second term. In the morning, the President will participate in a State Arrival Welcome Ceremony before holding bilateral meetings with President Xi Jinping of China.  Following this meeting, the President will deliver statements with President Xi in the Great Hall of the People.  The President’s arrival is open press, there will be a travel pool spray at the top of the bilateral meeting, and his remarks are open to pre-credentialed media.

In the afternoon, the President will attend a State Banquet with President Xi. This event is closed press. Later in the afternoon, the President will meet with Premier Li Keqiang.  There will be a pool spray at the top of the meeting.

Afterward, the President will depart Beijing en route Naypyitaw, Burma. The departure from Capital International Airport and arrival at Naypyitaw International Airport are open press.

In Naypyitaw, the President will participate in a family photo and attend an East Asia Summit Gala Dinner. There will be pre-set pool coverage of the President’s arrival, and travel pool coverage of the family photo and gala dinner.   

The President will remain overnight in Naypyitaw.

In the morning, the President will arrive in Beijing, China. Air Force One’s arrival at Capital International Airport is open press.

Later in the morning, the President will hold a bilateral meeting with President Joko Widodo of Indonesia.  There will be a travel pool spray at the top of the meeting.

In the afternoon, the President will participate in a meeting with leaders of the Trans-Pacific Partnership countries.  There will be a travel pool spray at the top of the meeting.

Following this meeting, the President will meet with employees and family members of the United States Embassy to China. This meeting is closed press.

Later in the afternoon, the President will hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Tony Abbott of Australia.  There will be a pool spray with statements at the bottom of this bilateral meeting.

Following this meeting, the President will travel to the Chinese National Convention Center to participate in the APEC CEO Summit and deliver remarks.  The President’s remarks are open to pre-credentialed press.

In the evening, the President will travel to the Beijing National Aquatics Center to attend an APEC welcome banquet.  He will be greeted by President Xi Jinping of China before participating in an APEC family photo.  There is pre-set pool coverage for the President’s arrival, greet and the APEC family photo; the APEC banquet is closed press.

The President will remain overnight in Beijing.
