West Wing Week: 07/24/15 or, "A New Direction"
This week, the President visited Steel City and The Big Apple, celebrated the anniversary of the ADA and the signing of AGOA, and hosted a newly minted head of state -- all while a U.S. delegation led by Dr. Biden traveled through Asia.
Friday, July 17th
- The President had an Oval Office visit with Emma Didlake, the nation's oldest living veteran.
- The President flew to New York City where, on Saturday, he took a stroll through one of his favorite New York landmarks, Central Park.
Saturday, July 18th
- Dr. Biden began a diplomatic trip to Vietnam, Laos and The Republic of Korea, to advocate for the expansion of economic and educational opportunities for girls and women. Concluding the journey in Japan, she stopped by a USO BBQ for military families where she highlighted the Joining Forces initiative.
Monday, July 20th
- The President hosted the new President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, at the White House for a bilateral meeting.
- The White House welcomed representatives of Boys Nation during their visit to the nation's capital.
- The President met with some inspiring advocates before speaking at the 25th Anniversary event for the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Tuesday, July 21st
- The President took off for Pittsburgh, where he addressed the 116th National Convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
- The President returned to New York City, this time for his final appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
- The White House launched two new digital tools to advocate for the recently announced deal with Iran, which would prevent that nation from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
- Valerie Jarrett led a White House tour for Logan Fairbanks, a brave young man who distinguished himself by standing up to cyberbullies.
Wednesday, July 22nd
- The President met with small business owners to discuss the reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank.
- The President invited diplomats, members of Congress, and other leaders to the White House to applaud the long-term renewal of the African Growth and Opportunity Act.
Thursday, July 23rd
- The President departed for his trip to Africa.
