  • More Than 11 Million Americans Are Signed Up for Health Coverage

    Five years ago, the Affordable Care Act became law -- opening the doors to affordable, quality health insurance for millions of people. And today, we learned that, thanks to the health care law, about 11.4 million Americans are signed up for private health coverage that suits their needs. 

    In the final day of Open Enrollment season this year, more new consumers signed up for health coverage than on any day this Open Enrollment or last. Health and Human Services Secretary Burwell delivered the great news to the President today. Watch his reaction: 

  • Investing in Research to Help Unlock the Mysteries of the Brain

    On April 2, 2013, President Obama launched the Brain Research through Advancing Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative, a Grand Challenge designed to revolutionize our understanding of the human brain. Since then, the BRAIN Initiative has grown to include five Federal agencies. The BRAIN Initiative remains a top priority for the Administration, which is why the President’s 2016 Budget proposes increasing funding for the BRAIN Initiative from about $200 million in FY 2015 to more than $300 million in FY 2016.

  • eSports Athletes Want You to Get Covered

    A new video out today features prominent eSports personalities encouraging Americans to sign up for an affordable health plan at HealthCare.gov before the enrollment deadline on February 15.

    Don’t know what eSports is? You should. Electronic sports — or eSports — refers to the genre of video game titles that have gained popularity as a spectator sport around the world.

    Over the last decade, eSports players, commentators, tournaments, and online streaming services have gained a following that rivals many traditional sports, including more than 31 million eSports fans in the United States alone.

    Today, a group of eSports industry leaders (ESL, Twitch.tv, and GEER) have collaborated to launch an effort encouraging gaming audiences to visit HealthCare.gov and sign up for an affordable health plan before the February 15 deadline.
