Tomorrow: White House Director of Recovery for Auto Communities and Workers to Visit Ohio

Tomorrow, April 9, 2009, Dr. Ed Montgomery, the White House Director of Recovery for Auto Communities and Workers, will visit Cleveland, Ohio to discuss the President’s support of a strong American auto industry and the President’s Auto Task Force initiative to support and revitalize auto industry workers and communities.

President Obama Announces More Key Administration Posts, 4/8/2009

Today, President Barack Obama announced his intent to nominate the following individuals for key administration posts: Mary L. Smith, Assistant Attorney General, Tax Division, Department of Justice; Robert R. Beers, Under Secretary for National Protection and Programs, Department of Homeland Security; Peter M. Rogoff, Administrator, Federal Transit Administration, Department of Transportation; and Jane Oates, Assistant Secretary for Employment and Training Administration, Department of Labor.

Earlier today, the Vice President hosted two conference calls with Governors and Mayors/County Executives from across the country to discuss Recovery Act implementation.

Advisory: White House Spring Garden Tours

White House Gardens and Grounds Tours will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, and from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2009. The White House Kitchen Garden, a new addition to the South Lawn, will be viewable from a distance along the tour route. The tours are open to the public; however, a ticket is required for all attendees, including small children. The National Park Service will distribute free, timed tickets at the Ellipse Visitor Pavilion located at 15th and E Streets on each tour day beginning at 8:00 a.m. Tickets will be distributed -- one ticket per person -- on a first-come, first-served basis.

President Obama Announces Additional Members of Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships

President Barack Obama today announced additional members of the President’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. The Advisory Council is part of the White House Office of Faith Based and Neighborhood Partnerships and is composed of religious and secular leaders and scholars from different backgrounds.

Vice President Biden to Travel to Fort Bragg to Welcome Home the XVIII Airborne Corps from Iraq

Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden will travel to Fort Bragg, North Carolina on Wednesday, April 8th to welcome home the XVIII Airborne Corps back from Iraq. This is the XVIII Airborne Corps’ second deployment to Iraq since 2006. Vice President Biden will deliver remarks at the Welcome Home Ceremony.
