In the morning, the President will participate in an International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) meeting on Afghanistan. There will be a pool spray at the top of the meeting at McCormick Place.

Later in the morning, the President will take part in an ISAF family photo at McCormick Place.  There will be pool press coverage of the family photo.

In the afternoon, the President and NATOSecretary General will host a Partners Meeting at McCormick Place. There will be a pool spray at the top of the meeting.

Next, the President will depart Chicago en route Joplin, Missouri. The President’s departure from Chicago O’Hare International Airport and his arrival at Joplin Regional Airport will be open press.

In the evening, the President will deliver the commencement address at Joplin High School’s 2011-2012 graduation ceremony at Missouri Southern State University.  After devastating tornadoes ravaged the Joplin area nearly a year ago, the Joplin community’s resilience and selflessness in the face of tragedy continues to inspire our nation.  The President looks forward to joining Missouri Governor Jay Nixon at Joplin High School’s graduation ceremony and addressing this year‘s graduating seniors and their families. The President’s remarks will be pooled for TV and stills and open to pre-credentialed correspondents.

Later in the morning, the President will hold a bilateral meeting with President Francois Hollande of France in advance of the G-8 and NATO Summits to discuss our cooperation on a range of key topics, to include the global economy and Afghanistan. In the afternoon, the President will travel to Camp David for the G8 Summit. The departure from the South Lawn is open press and the arrival at Camp David is closed press.

The Schedule

In the morning, the President will visit a small business in the Washington, DC area where he will urge Congress to act on the “To Do List,” specifically highlighting the need to invest in small businesses and jumpstart new hiring by passing legislation that gives a 10 percent income tax credit to firms that create new jobs or increase wages in 2012 and that extends 100 percent expensing in 2012 for all businesses. The President will hold a roundtable discussion with small business owners who will benefit from these proposals as well as Small Business Administrator Karen Mills. There will be a pool spray with a statement at the bottom of the discussion.

Later, the President will meet for lunch with Congressional Leadership in the Private Dining Room where he will stress the importance of acting on Congress’ “To Do List.” This lunch will include House Speaker John Boehner, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. This working lunch is closed press.

In the afternoon, the President will meet with Secretary of State Clinton in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press. 

Later in the afternoon, the President will award Specialist Leslie H. Sabo, Jr., U.S. Army, the Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry. Specialist Sabo will receive the Medal of Honor posthumously for his heroic actions in combat on May 10, 1970, while serving as a rifleman in Company B, 3d Battalion, 506th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division in Se San, Cambodia. The First Lady will also attend. The President’s remarks in the East Room are open press.

Later in the morning, the President will deliver remarks at the National Peace Officers Memorial Service, an annual ceremony honoring law enforcement who were killed in the line of duty in the previous year. This event is open to pre-credentialed media.

In the afternoon, the President will welcome Major League Soccer champions, the LA Galaxy, to the White House to honor their 2011 season and their MLS Cup victory.  This visit will also continue the tradition begun by President Obama of honoring sports teams for their efforts to give back to communities as part of their trip to Washington. This event in the East Room is open press.

Later in the afternoon, the President and the Vice President will meet with Secretary of the Treasury Geithner in the Oval Office. The President and the Vice President will then meet with Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.
