In the morning, the President and the Vice President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. The President will then meet with senior advisors in the Oval Office and receive the Economic Daily Briefing in the Roosevelt Room. These meetings are closed press.

In the afternoon, the President will award Staff Sergeant Salvatore Giunta, U.S. Army, the Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry. Staff Sergeant Giunta will receive the Medal of Honor for his courageous actions during combat operations against an armed enemy in the Korengal Valley, Afghanistan in October 2007.  Staff Sergeant Giunta's wife, Jennifer, and his parents, Steven and Rosemary Giunta, will join the President and the First Lady in the East Room to commemorate his example of selfless service.
