The Schedule

In the morning, the President and Vice President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing in the Oval Office.  This meeting is closed press.

In the afternoon, the President will hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk of Ukraine. The President and Prime Minister Yatsenyuk will discuss how to find a peaceful resolution to Russia’s ongoing military intervention in Crimea that would respect Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity.  They will also discuss support the international community can provide to help Ukraine confront its economic challenges, and the importance of uniting Ukraine and working to fulfill the aspirations of the Ukrainian people as they prepare for May presidential elections. The Vice President will also attend. There will be a pool spray at the bottom of the bilateral meeting in the Oval Office.

Later in the afternoon, the President will drop by a meeting with women Members of Congress to discuss the administration’s economic agenda and minimum wage efforts. There will be a pool spray of this meeting in the Roosevelt Room.

Later in the morning, the President will designate the Point Arena-Stornetta Public Lands as part of the California Coastal National Monument in a signing ceremony in the Oval Office. There will be a pool spray of the signing.

In the afternoon, the President will travel to New York City. The departure from the South Lawn and arrival at John F. Kennedy International Airport are open press.

While in New York, the President will attend two events, one for the DNC and another for the DSCC. The DNC event is closed press, and the DSCC event will be print pool coverage for remarks only.

While at Coral Reef High School, the President and the First Lady will visit a classroom and the President will deliver remarks. The President will discuss how a quality education has never been more important to economic success in this country.  If they work hard, students should have the opportunity to get a quality education that will prepare them to compete and win in a 21st century global economy. In the morning, the President will participate in a town hall focusing on the importance of Latinos capitalizing on the benefits of the Affordable Care Act and enrolling in quality, affordable health insurance. The town hall is hosted by the Asegurate campaign, a partnership between the California Endowment, Covered California and Spanish language media outlets Univision, Telemundo and impreMedia. There will be a stills only pool spray of the taping. The town hall will be streamed live at WhiteHouse.gov/LatinoTownHall.

In the evening, the President and First Lady will host “In Performance at the White House: Women of Soul” for music legends and contemporary major female artists at the White House celebrating the great “foremothers” of American music, with songs expressing the struggles and achievements of women. The program will include performances by Tessanne Chin, Melissa Etheridge, Aretha Franklin, Ariana Grande, Patti LaBelle, Janelle Monáe and Jill Scott, with Greg Phillinganes as music director.  The President’s remarks will be pooled press and the entire event will be streamed live at WhiteHouse.gov/live.
