In the afternoon, the President will have lunch with the Vice President in the Private Dining Room. This lunch is closed press.

In the afternoon, the President will host the first-ever White House Demo Day, which will celebrate the important role entrepreneurship plays in America’s economy. Unlike a private-sector Demo Day, where entrepreneurs and startups pitch their ideas to funders, these innovators from around the country will “demo” their individual stories. The President’s viewing of the exhibits on the State Floor will be pooled press. The President’s remarks in the East Room will be open press. Later in the afternoon, the President will meet with American Jewish community leaders to discuss the Iran nuclear deal. This meeting follows similar meetings the President held with Jewish community leaders in April, following the announcement of the Lausanne framework, and numerous engagements that senior administration officials have held with organizations and individuals in the community since the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action was announced last month. Later in the morning, the President will participate in a Town Hall at the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Mandela Washington Fellowship Presidential Summit. The three-day Summit will bring together 500 of sub-Saharan Africa’s most promising young leaders to meet with the President and leading U.S. entrepreneurs, government officials, and civil society representatives. This event at the Omni Shoreham Hotel is open to pre-credentialed media.

In the afternoon, the President will deliver remarks on the Clean Power Plan at an event in the East Room. This event is open press.

Real GDP rose faster in the second quarter than in the first, even after a large upward revision to first-quarter growth. Strong personal consumption led the rebound as consumers spent more of the windfall gains from lower oil prices that they had saved in the first quarter, and many of the temporary factors that restrained growth in the first quarter faded.
