At 11:00 AM, the Vice President will deliver remarks on the Administration’s proposals to reduce gun violence at the 2013 Winter-Spring Meeting of the National Association of Attorneys General at the Ritz-Carlton in Washington, DC. Later in the morning, the President will depart the White House en route Newport News, Virginia. The departure from the South Lawn and the arrival at Joint Base Langley-Eustis are open press.

While in Virginia, the President will visit Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, to highlight the devastating impact the sequester will have on jobs and middle class families if Congressional Republicans fail to compromise to avert the sequester.  On March 1st, a series of automatic cuts could go into effect that would severely affect companies like this one that depend on the defense industry, and its workers. This company has a supplier base in all 50 states, many of which are small businesses that rely solely on Newport News Shipbuilding for their business. The President’s remarks are open to pre-credentialed media.

In the afternoon, the President will depart Newport News, Virginia en route Washington, DC. The departure from Joint Base Langley-Eustis and the arrival on the South Lawn are open press.

In the afternoon, the Vice President will meet with retired military officials at the White House to discuss the Administration’s proposals to reduce gun violence in communities across America.
