In the morning, the President will greet First Minister Peter Robinson and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness of Northern Ireland at the White House to discuss their progress toward meeting their shared commitment to a peaceful and prosperous future for the people of Northern Ireland. The President looks forward to discussing preparations for the East Asia Summit and U.S.-ASEAN Summit, which will be held in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei in October, and to consulting with His Majesty on a broad range of strategic and economic issues of mutual concern. In the morning, the President and the Vice President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press.

In the afternoon, the President will meet for lunch with Representatives Chris Van Hollen and Paul Ryan in the Private Dining Room. This lunch is closed press.

In the afternoon, the President will sign the Violence Against Women Act at the Department of the Interior. The President and Vice President will deliver remarks at the bill signing. They will be joined by women’s organizations, law enforcement officials, tribal leaders, survivors, advocates and members of Congress. The law strengthens the criminal justice system’s response to crimes against women, including domestic violence, sexual assault and trafficking. The President’s and the Vice President’s remarks are open to pre-credentialed media.

At 4:30 PM, the Vice President and Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius will meet with Democratic Senators at the White House to discuss policies to increase access to mental health services.
