In the morning, the President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press.

Later in the morning, the President will host President Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti for a bilateral meeting at the White House.  President Guelleh’s visit underscores the strength of the strategic partnership between the United States and Djibouti, including the important role Djibouti plays in preventing conflict, promoting regional stability, and countering extremism as host to the Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa at Camp Lemonnier.  The President looks forward to discussing a range of issues of mutual interest with President Guelleh, including security and counterterrorism, development, trade, and energy cooperation. There will be a pool spray at the top of the meeting.

In the evening, the President will host a Cinco de Mayo reception in the Rose Garden. There will be pooled press coverage of this event.

In the morning, the President and the Vice President will welcome Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Angela Merkel to the White House. The President will hold a bilateral meeting with Chancellor Merkel in the Oval Office; the Vice President will also attend. There will be a pool spray at the top of the meeting. In their meeting, the President and Chancellor Merkel will discuss promoting economic growth, supporting the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, cooperating within NATO, supporting democracy in Europe’s east, and meeting shared security and economic challenges around the globe.

Later in the morning, the President will hold a joint press conference with Chancellor Merkel in the Rose Garden. The press conference is open press.

In the afternoon, the President will hold a working lunch with Chancellor Merkel in the Cabinet Room; the Vice President will also attend. The working lunch is closed press.

Later in the morning, the President will depart Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia en route Manila, Philippines. The Presidents departure from the Rmaf Subang Air Base and arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport are open press.

In the afternoon, the President will participate in the official arrival ceremony at the Malacanang Palace with President Benigno Aquino of the Philippines. The President’s arrival ceremony is open press. Following the official arrival ceremony, the President will participate in the guest book signing with President Aquino. There will be travel pool coverage of the signing. Later in the afternoon, the President will participate in a restricted and expanded bilateral meeting with President Aquino. There will be limited pool spray of the restricted meeting, and there will be a travel pool spray at the top of the expanded meeting. In the morning, the President will meet with employees and family members of the United States Embassy to Japan. This event is closed press. Following the meet and greet, the President will participate in a farewell greet with the Emperor and Empress of Japan. There will be a limited pool spray at the top of the meeting.

Later in the morning, the President will depart Japan for Seoul,  Republic of Korea. The President’s departure from Haneda Airport and arrival at the Osan Air Base are open press.  

In the afternoon, the President will participate in a naturalization ceremony and a wreath laying at the National War Memorial to honor fallen soldiers. There will be travel pool coverage of both the naturalization ceremony and the wreath laying. Following the wreath laying the President will tour the Gyeongbok Palace. There will be travel pool coverage of the  President’s tour.

Later in the afternoon, the President will visit the Blue House to participate in the official arrival ceremony where he will be greeted by President Park of the Republic of Korea.   Following his arrival, the President will participate in the guest book signing and official photo with President Park. There will be pre-set pool coverage of the President’s arrival and there will be travel pool coverage of both the guest book signing and official photo. Following the official photo, the President will hold a bilateral meeting with President Park. There will be a travel pool spray at the top of this meeting.

In the evening, the President will  join President Park to deliver brief remarks on the return of cultural artifacts to the Republic of Korea.
