In the morning, the President will depart Los Angeles, California en route Phoenix, Arizona. The departure from Los Angeles International Airport and the arrival at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport are open to pre-credentialed media.

In Arizona, the President will visit the Phoenix VA Medical Center, where he will be briefed on the progress made to improve the VA’s ability to serve veterans in a timely and effective manner, areas where more progress is needed, and further steps that are planned. In the afternoon, the President will host European Council President Donald Tusk at the White House; the Vice President will also attend. President Tusk’s visit underscores the importance of U.S.-EU cooperation and the centrality of the Transatlantic relationship to international stability and prosperity. The President and President Tusk will discuss a range of issues, including the situation in Ukraine, Russia, economic growth, the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP), energy security, climate, and countering violent extremism and terrorism.
