What's Happening

In the morning, the President will address the United Nations General Assembly. The First Lady will also attend.  This event is open to pre-credentialed media.  The President  will then meet with John Ashe, the President of the United Nations General Assembly. This meeting is closed press.

Later in the morning, the President will hold a bilateral meeting with President Michel Sleiman of the Republic of Lebanon. There will be a travel pool spray at the top of the meeting with statements.

In the afternoon, the President will meet with United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon.  This meeting is closed press.  Following their meeting, the President will attend a luncheon hosted by United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon.  There will be a travel pool spray at the top of the luncheon.

After, the President will hold a meeting with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.  There will be a travel pool spray at the top of the meeting with statements. 

Later in the afternoon, the President will visit the Clinton Global Initiative where he and President Clinton will engage in a conversation about the future of health care reform in America, and the benefits of expanding access to quality health care around the globe. This event is open to pre-credentialed media.  

In the evening, the President will attend an event for the DNC.  This event will be covered by travel print pool only.

Later in the evening, the President and the First Lady will return to the White House.  The President and the First Lady’s departure from John F. Kennedy International Airport and arrival on the South Lawn are open press.

In the morning, the President will travel to Kansas City, Missouri. The departure from the South Lawn and the arrival at the Kansas City International Airport are open press. The President will travel to the Ford Kansas City Stamping Plant in Liberty, MO, where he will continue to highlight the progress we have made since the beginning of the financial crisis five years ago and the work that lies ahead to continue strengthening our economy and deliver a Better Bargain for the Middle Class. 

In the afternoon, the President will tour the Stamping Plant and deliver remarks to Ford employees and guests. The President’s tour of the Stamping Plant will be pooled press. The President’s remarks are open to pre-credentialed members of the media and closed to the public.

Later in the afternoon, the President will depart Kansas City, Missouri en route Washington, DC. The departure from the Kansas City International Airport and the arrival on the South Lawn are open press.

In the morning, the President and the Vice President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press.

Later in the morning, the President will deliver remarks to members of the Business Roundtable and answer questions. There will be in-town travel pool coverage for remarks only at the Business Roundtable Headquarters in Washington, DC.

In the afternoon, the President and the Vice President will meet with Secretary of the Treasury Lew in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press.

Later in the afternoon, the President and the Vice President will meet with Secretary of State Kerry in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press.

In the morning, the President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing and meet with senior advisors in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.

Later in the morning, the President will deliver remarks in the South Court Auditorium at the White House to mark the five-year anniversary of the financial crisis, discuss the progress we have made to grow the economy and create 7.5 million private sector jobs, and highlight the work we still need to do to strengthen the middle class and those fighting to get into it. He will continue to highlight his better bargain for the middle class, and warn against more self-inflicted wounds from Washington. He will be joined on-stage and in the audience by people who have benefited from his economic recovery proposals over the last five years including small business owners, construction workers, homeowners, consumers and tax cut recipients. The event is open press.

In the evening, the President and the First Lady will welcome various music artists to the White House for a celebration of Latin music during Hispanic Heritage Month. Música Latina: In Performance at the White House will showcase Latinmusical heritage, reflecting the influence of richly diverse Latino communities from throughout the Americas. The performance will be pooled press and held in the East Room. 

Update: In light of today’s tragic events at the Washington Navy Yard and out of respect for the victims and their families, Música Latina will be postponed to a new date.
