In the morning, the President and the Vice President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press. In the afternoon, the President will welcome the WNBA Champion Seattle Storm to the White House to honor the team’s 2010 championship season. The President’s remarks in the Rose Garden are open press. In conjunction with this event, members of the team will participate in a service project with local area youth during their visit. This visit will also continue the tradition begun by President Obama of honoring sports teams for their efforts to give back to communities as well as for winning championships as part of their trip to Washington. As part of the Storm’s visit to Washington, the team will hold a basketball clinic for Washington, D.C.-area kids. Later in the afternoon, the President and the Vice President will meet with members of the Senate Democratic Leadership in the Oval Office to discuss the status of the negotiations to find common ground on a balanced approach to deficit reduction. In the afternoon, the President will welcome Major League Soccer champions, the Colorado Rapids to the White House to honor their 2010 season and their MLS Cup victory. The group will talk about the progress being made towards a balanced framework for deficit reduction through the discussions being led by the Vice President.
