What's Happening

In the morning, the President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press.

 

Later in the morning, the President will meet with rank and file House Democrats on economic issues.  This meeting in the Roosevelt Room is closed press. 

 

In the afternoon, the President will travel to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland to visit with wounded service members. This visit is closed press.

 

Following the President’s visit with wounded service members, the President will travel to Kansas City, Missouri. There will be travel pool coverage of the President’s departure from Joint Base Andrews and the President’s arrival at the Kansas City International Airport is open to pre-credentialed media. 

 

The President will remain overnight in Kansas City.

In the morning, the President and Vice President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press.

 

In the afternoon, the President will meet with President Otto Perez Molina of Guatemala, President Juan Orlando Hernandez of Honduras, and President Salvador Sanchez Ceren of El Salvador. The Vice President will also attend. The four leaders and Vice President Biden will discuss how to reinforce our ongoing collaboration to stem the flow of undocumented migrants from Central America to Mexico and the United States.  This will include discussion of how the United States and Central American governments are cooperating to promote safe, legal, and orderly migration between our countries in a spirit of shared responsibility, including with respect to the return of family units, which began last week for all three countries.  There will be a pool spray of this meeting in the Cabinet Room at the bottom.

In the morning, the President will attend a House Majority PAC event at the Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco. This event is closed press.

 

In the afternoon, the President will attend a DCCC event at a private residence. There will be print pool coverage for remarks only.

 

Afterward, the President will depart San Francisco en route Los Angeles, California. The President’s departure from San Francisco International Airport and arrival at Los Angeles International Airport are open to pre-credentialed media.

 

Later in the afternoon, the President will attend a DNC event at a private residence. There will be print pool coverage for remarks only.

Later in the morning, the President will sign an Executive Order to protect LGBT employees from workplace discrimination. This event in the East Room is open press. Following this event, the President will visit the Walker Jones Education Campus in Washington, DC to participate in a town hall focusing on his My Brother’s Keeper initiative. This event is open to pre-credentialed media.

 

In the afternoon, the President will award Ryan M. Pitts, a former active duty Army Staff Sergeant, the Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry.  Staff Sergeant Pitts will receive the Medal of Honor for his courageous actions while serving as a Forward Observer with 2nd Platoon, Chosen Company, 2nd Battalion (Airborne), 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, during combat operations at Vehicle Patrol Base Kahler, in the vicinity of Wanat Village in Kunar Province, Afghanistan on July 13, 2008. Staff Sergeant Pitts will be the ninth living recipient to be awarded the Medal of Honor for actions in Iraq or Afghanistan. This event in the East Room is open to pre-credentialed media.
