What's Happening

In the morning, the President will  hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. There will be a travel pool spray at the top of the meeting.

In the afternoon the President will deliver remarks at a United Nations meeting on the Ebola epidemic, chaired by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. This meeting will bring together world leaders to confront the Ebola outbreak in parts of West Africa. There will be pooled coverage of the President’s remarks.

Later in the afternoon, the President will  hold a bilateral meeting with President Abdel Fattah el-SiSi of the Arab Republic of Egypt. There will be a travel pool spray at the top of the meeting.

Following the bilateral meeting, the President and the First Lady will return to the White House. The President and the First Lady’s departure from John F. Kennedy International Airport and arrival on the South Lawn are open press.

Later, the President will make a personnel announcement in the State Dining Room. The President’s statement in the State Dining Room is pooled press.

In the afternoon, the President will deliver remarks at the Climate Summit 2014 in the General Assembly Hall. The meeting will showcase climate action commitments from governments, local leaders, and the private sector in an effort to build political will for a new global climate agreement due in 2015. There will be pooled coverage of the President’s remarks.

Later in the afternoon, the President will visit the Clinton Global Initiative where he and President Clinton will engage in a conversation about how the Administration—in partnership with other governments, non-governmental organizations, and the philanthropic community—is deepening its commitment to defend and strengthen civil society globally. This event is open to pre-credentialed media. Following this event, the President will participate in a USUN Mission meet and greet with employees and their families. This event is closed press.

In the evening, the President will attend a DSCC event at a private residence. There will be print pool coverage for remarks only.

Later in the evening, the President and First Lady will host a United Nations General Assembly reception. This event is closed press.

The President and the First Lady will remain overnight in New York City.

In the morning, the President and the Vice President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press.

Later in the morning, the President and the Vice President will host an event in the East Room to launch the “It’s On Us” campaign, a new public awareness and action campaign designed to prevent sexual assault at colleges and universities, change the culture on our campuses, and better engage men in this effort. The event will be open press and streamed live on obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/live. 

In the afternoon, the President will deliver remarks at the DNC’s annual Women’s Leadership Forum at the Marriott Marquis in Washington, DC. This event will be pooled for TV and open to pre-credentialed stills and correspondents.

In the evening, the President will travel to Camp David. The departure from the South Lawn is open press.

In the morning, the President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press.

Afterward, the President will participate in an Ambassador Credentialing Ceremony in the Oval Office. At this event, the President will receive the credentials from foreign Ambassadors recently posted in Washington. The presentation of credentials is a traditional ceremony that marks the formal beginning of an Ambassador’s service in Washington. This event is closed press. The following Ambassadors will attend:

In the afternoon, the President will hold a bilateral meeting with President Petro Poroshenko of Ukraine; the Vice President will also attend. The visit will highlight the United States’ firm commitment to stand with Ukraine as it pursues liberal democracy, stability, and prosperity. President Obama looks forward to discussing with President Poroshenko efforts to pursue a diplomatic resolution to the crisis in eastern Ukraine as well as our continued support for Ukraine’s struggle to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity. At 8:00 AM, the Vice President will host a working breakfast with U.S. Senators at the Naval Observatory. This meeting is closed press.

Later in the morning, the Vice President will attend Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko’s address to a joint meeting of Congress at the U.S. Capitol.

At 12:00 PM, the Vice President will host a working lunch with President Poroshenko at the Naval Observatory. The Vice President greeting President Poroshenko upon arrival at the Naval Observatory is pooled press.

Later in the afternoon, the Vice President will attend the President’s bilateral meeting with President Poroshenko.
