The Schedule

In the morning, the President and Vice President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press.

Later in the morning, the President will deliver remarks and answer questions from a group of business leaders at the quarterly meeting of the Business Roundtable. There will be in-town travel pool coverage of this event at the Business Roundtable Headquarters in Washington, DC.

In the afternoon, the President will have lunch with the Vice President in the Private Dining Room. This lunch is closed press. Afterward, the President will meet with Senator Mitch McConnell. This meeting in the Oval Office is closed press.  

Later in the afternoon, the President will deliver remarks at the White House Tribal Nations Conference at the Capital Hilton. This will be the sixth White House Tribal Nations Conference for the Obama Administration. The President’s remarks are open to pre-credentialed media.

Later in the morning, the President will meet with 12 regionally diverse tribal leaders from across the country to engage directly on issues important to Indian country, ahead of the Tribal Nation’s Conference on Wednesday. This meeting in the Roosevelt Room is closed press.

Afterward, the President and the Vice President will meet with Secretary of Defense Hagel in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press.

In the afternoon, the President will travel to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland to visit with wounded service members. This visit is closed press.

Afterward, the President will tour the Vaccine Research Center and deliver remarks at the National Institutes of Health to congratulate Drs. Francis Collins and Tony Fauci and their teams on the first published results from Phase 1 clinical trials of a promising Ebola vaccine candidate, and to discuss progress on other fronts on the fight against Ebola. Additionally, the President will use the visit to make the case for prompt Congressional action on his emergency funding request to combat Ebola at home and abroad. There will be travel pool coverage of the tour, and the President’s remarks are pooled for television and open to limited pre-credentialed still photographers and correspondents.

Later in the afternoon, the President will meet with elected officials, community and faith leaders, along with law enforcement officials, to discuss how communities and law enforcement can work together to build trust to strengthen neighborhoods across the country; the Vice President will also attend.
